Safety notes
Stop swaddling the moment your baby shows any sign of rolling, usually somewhere around 8 to 12 weeks. A swaddled baby who rolls onto their front cannot push back up. Swaddle firmly across the chest but leave the hips loose enough for the legs to bend up and out, since tight straight-leg wrapping is linked to hip dysplasia. Always place a swaddled baby on their back, and never add loose blankets on top. Never leave a loose muslin in a cot, pram or car seat with a sleeping baby, and do not drape one over a pram to make shade, since it traps heat and cuts airflow.

Every experienced parent owns a stack of muslins and uses roughly none of them for swaddling. They become the pram shade, the burp cloth, the changing mat on somebody's floor, the thing you throw over a car seat, the emergency towel. Muslin gets softer with washing rather than worse, which is why the ones you buy first tend to outlast most of the nursery. As an actual swaddle they demand the folding technique that wrap swaddles exist to avoid, so if swaddling is the goal, buy the wrap. If versatility is the goal, buy these.
