What We Like
- Bamboo rayon fabric is incredibly soft and great at temperature regulation
- Two-way zipper means diaper changes don't require removing the whole bag
- Beautiful muted color options that actually look nice in your nursery
- 1.0 TOG is versatile for most room temperatures year-round
What Could Be Better
- Pricey for what is basically a wearable blanket, and you need at least two
- Sizing runs a little large, so newborns can swim in the smallest size
- Limited availability and popular colors sell out fast
Safety Notes
Use the appropriate size for your baby's weight and height. The sleep bag should not go over baby's face. Stop using a swaddle version once baby shows signs of rolling. Always place baby on their back to sleep.
Buying Guide Notes
You'll want at least 2 sleep bags so one can be in the wash. The 1.0 TOG works for most homes. If your house runs cold (below 68F), consider the 2.5 TOG for winter. Woolino makes a merino wool alternative that's pricier but covers a wider temperature range. Burt's Bees makes a budget-friendly option if the Kyte price is too steep.
Full Review
We tried four different sleep bag brands before landing on Kyte Baby, and nothing else comes close on fabric quality. The bamboo rayon is absurdly soft and does a great job regulating temperature. Our daughter runs warm and this kept her comfortable without overheating, even in summer. It's a 1.0 TOG weight, which works for room temps between 69-73 degrees. The two-way zipper is a lifesaver for middle-of-the-night diaper changes because you can unzip from the bottom without taking the whole thing off and fully waking baby up. They come in beautiful muted colors that actually look nice, not the loud primary color stuff you see from other brands. The only real downside is the price. At $36-42 per bag, you'll want at least two (one to wear, one in the wash), and that adds up fast.
