What We Like

  • Incredibly versatile, you'll use them for swaddling, burping, nursing, shade, and more
  • Breathable muslin gets softer with every single wash
  • Large 47x47 size works for swaddling, blankets, and milestone photos
  • Beautiful prints and patterns that make great gifts
  • Four-pack means you always have a clean one available

What Could Be Better

  • Pricey for blankets at about $10 each
  • Wrinkle badly, which is fine unless you're particular about that
  • Not the best for swaddling escape artists since there's no velcro or snap closure

Safety Notes

If using as a swaddle, stop when baby shows signs of rolling. Never use as a loose blanket in the crib for babies under 12 months. When using as a stroller shade, ensure adequate airflow. These are not a car seat replacement cover.

Buying Guide Notes

Buy at least one 4-pack. You'll probably want two packs eventually. The organic cotton version costs more but isn't noticeably different in feel. Copper Pearl and Little Unicorn make similar muslin blankets at comparable prices with different print styles. These make the best baby shower gift because you literally cannot have too many.

Full Review

These muslin blankets are the Swiss Army knife of baby products. Sure, you can swaddle with them if you've got the technique down (and if your baby cooperates, which is a big if). But the real magic is everything else they do. Burp cloth? Yes. Nursing cover in public? Yes. Stroller sun shade? Yes. Tummy time blanket at the park? Yes. Light blanket for the car seat? Yes. Emergency changing pad at a restaurant? Unfortunately, also yes. The muslin is breathable and gets softer with every wash. The 47x47 inch size is big enough to actually swaddle a newborn with room to spare. We got four packs as shower gifts and used every single one, every single day, for over a year. They come in beautiful prints that double as photography backdrops for those monthly milestone photos. At around $40 for a 4-pack, they're not cheap for blankets. But you'll use them more than almost anything else you buy. The cotton muslin does wrinkle like crazy though. If you care about that, you'll be ironing blankets, which, come on.
