What We Like

  • 6-layer muslin is genuinely soft on newborn skin and gets softer with washing
  • Perfect size for baby bath time and on-the-go face wiping
  • Versatile enough to double as burp cloths and drool wipes
  • 10-pack lasts several days between washes with heavy rotation
  • Dry quickly and don't develop that mildewy smell

What Could Be Better

  • More expensive per cloth than basic terry washcloths
  • The muslin can feel thin and flimsy at first if you're used to thick washcloths
  • White ones stain easily, so choose the colored sets if you care about looks

Safety Notes

100% natural muslin cotton. No harsh chemicals or dyes. Wash before first use. Use separate washcloths for face, body, and diaper area to prevent spreading bacteria.

Buying Guide Notes

Get at least one 10-pack for bath time and one for the diaper bag and general use. Burt's Bees makes organic cotton washcloths that are thicker if you prefer more structure. For a premium option, aden + anais muslin washcloths are slightly larger and come in cuter prints. But for pure value, these KeaBabies are hard to beat.

Full Review

Regular washcloths are too rough for baby skin. Full stop. Your bathroom washcloths that feel fine to you will leave red marks on a newborn's delicate skin. These muslin washcloths are the answer. The 6-layer muslin is soft on first use and gets softer with every wash, which is the opposite of how most baby products work. At 10x10 inches, they're the perfect size for bath time. Big enough to actually clean a baby, small enough to get into all the neck folds and behind the ears where milk crud builds up. And there are so many neck folds on a chunky baby. You'll use these for bath time, obviously, but they also work as on-the-go face wipes, drool mop-ups, and impromptu burp cloths. We kept two in the diaper bag at all times. The 10-pack seems like a lot, but you'll rotate through them faster than you think. We'd go through 2-3 per bath (face, body, diaper area should all be separate cloths) plus a couple during the day for food and drool. Having 10 means you can go a few days between laundry loads. They dry fast and don't develop that mildewy smell that thicker washcloths tend to get.
