Buying Guide Notes
Hanna Andersson runs frequent seasonal sales, so patience pays if you're price-conscious. Size up slightly since they shrink a tiny bit after first wash despite being preshrunk. If the price is too much, Burt's Bees makes a good organic alternative at a lower price point, though the fabric isn't quite as soft.
Full Review
Hanna Andersson is one of those brands that makes you understand why some parents spend more on baby clothes. The organic cotton in these sleepers is noticeably softer than Carter's or Gerber. It's not subtle. You'll feel the difference the second you take it out of the package, and it gets even softer with washing. The two-way zipper is the real hero here. It zips from the top down AND from the bottom up, so you can open just the bottom half for a diaper change at 2am without unzipping the whole thing and blasting your sleeping baby with cold air. That design choice alone has saved us dozens of middle-of-the-night meltdowns. The fabric is GOTS-certified organic cotton with no flame retardants, relying on snug fit for sleepwear safety instead. The prints are beautiful and distinctive, not the same farm animals and trucks you see everywhere else. And the quality is genuinely built to last. We passed ours down to baby number two and they still looked almost new. Yes, they cost more. A single Hanna sleeper costs what a 2-pack of Carter's costs. But if you're planning on more than one kid, or you just want something that feels special, these are worth it.
