What We Like

  • Organic cotton absorbs drool well without getting immediately soggy
  • Snap closure stays on, unlike velcro that babies love to rip off
  • Soft fabric doesn't irritate sensitive chin and neck skin
  • Machine washable and doesn't develop that sour-drool smell
  • Right size to cover the drool zone without being comically oversized

What Could Be Better

  • Not waterproof, so heavy droolers will still soak through to the shirt eventually
  • The snaps can be hard to close one-handed while holding a wiggly baby
  • Not designed for mealtimes (get a silicone bib with a pocket for food)

Safety Notes

Remove bib before placing baby in a crib or for sleep. Snap closures should not be accessible to baby during wear. Check snaps regularly for looseness. Organic cotton, GOTS certified, free from harmful dyes.

Buying Guide Notes

These are drool bibs, not feeding bibs. For feeding, get a silicone bib like BabyBjorn or Mushie with a food-catching pocket. For heavy droolers, the bandana-style bibs from Copper Pearl have a fleece backing that's more water-resistant. Buy at least two packs so you always have clean ones ready.

Full Review

Drool bibs are one of those things you don't think you'll need until your baby starts soaking through three outfit changes a day around month 3 when teething ramps up. These Burt's Bees bibs are made from the same soft organic cotton as their clothing line, and they actually absorb a surprising amount of drool before soaking through. The snap closure in the back (instead of velcro) is clutch because babies love ripping off velcro bibs and chewing on the scratchy part. Snaps stay put. You get four in a pack with different prints, and they're big enough to cover the chest area where drool pools but not so big they look like your baby is wearing a poncho. We kept one on our son basically 24/7 from months 3-9 and just swapped them out a few times a day. The organic cotton washes well and doesn't get that funky sour-drool smell that some synthetic bibs develop. They're not great for food messes (you'll want a silicone bib with a pocket for that), but for everyday drool management, these are perfect.
