What We Like
- Full-zip front means no fumbling with 900 tiny snaps at 3am
- GOTS-certified organic cotton is genuinely soft, not stiff
- 5-pack gives you enough to survive a blowout-heavy day without laundry panic
- Fold-over hand cuffs prevent scratching on newborn sizes
- Hold up well wash after wash without shrinking or pilling
What Could Be Better
- Sizing can run slightly small, especially in length for taller babies
- Prints are cute but limited, you might want more variety
- The zipper pull is small and can be fiddly with one hand
Safety Notes
GOTS-certified organic cotton, free from harmful chemicals and dyes. Snug-fitting as required by CPSC for sleepwear. Check zippers regularly to make sure the pull tab is securely attached.
Buying Guide Notes
Size up. Seriously, just size up. Babies grow fast and these run slightly snug. If your baby is between sizes, go up. Carter's makes a similar zip-up at a lower price point but the fabric isn't organic. Kyte Baby makes a bamboo version that's softer but costs 3x as much per piece.
Full Review
Here's the thing about newborn clothes: you're going to go through a lot of them. Between blowouts, spit-up, and the mysterious stains that appear from nowhere, your baby will change outfits 3-4 times a day. That's why we love these Burt's Bees coveralls. You get a 5-pack of soft organic cotton one-pieces with a full-length zipper that runs from ankle to chin. No snaps. Anyone who's tried to line up 47 tiny snaps on a squirming baby at 3am knows why that matters. The organic cotton is GOTS-certified and genuinely soft right out of the package, not that stiff scratchy organic cotton you sometimes get. They wash well too. After dozens of cycles, ours still held their shape and softness. The fold-over hand cuffs on the newborn sizes are great for keeping tiny fingernails from scratching their face.
