What We Like

  • Eight onesies for under $20 is about as cheap as baby clothes get
  • Thinner cotton is actually great for hot weather layering
  • Expandable lap shoulders for the pull-down blowout maneuver
  • Reinforced snaps that actually stay closed
  • Classic look that works solo or as a base layer

What Could Be Better

  • Fabric is thinner than competitors, which means less durability after many washes
  • Runs short in the torso for longer babies
  • White ones turn dingy fast no matter how you wash them

Safety Notes

100% cotton, Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified. Free from harmful chemicals. Check snaps before each wear to make sure they're secure.

Buying Guide Notes

Gerber and Hudson Baby are neck and neck for budget onesies. Gerber wins on pack size (8 vs 7) and price per piece. Hudson Baby wins on fabric softness. If you're in a hot climate, go Gerber. For sensitive skin or cooler weather, go Hudson. Either way, buy multiples.

Full Review

If Hudson Baby is the Honda Civic of onesies, Gerber is the Toyota Corolla. Boring, reliable, and absolutely everywhere. This 8-pack gives you a full week plus a spare, which matters because laundry day doesn't always happen when it should. The cotton is a bit thinner than Hudson or Carter's, but honestly that's a feature in summer when your baby is already a tiny space heater. The expandable lap shoulders work the way they should for those pull-down-over-the-body blowout moments. Snaps at the crotch are reinforced and don't pop open randomly, which is more than I can say for some off-brand packs we've tried. The sizing is pretty standard Gerber, meaning it runs a little short in the torso for longer babies. We used these as the base layer under basically everything for our son's first year. Underneath a cute outfit for photos, under a sleep sack at night, or solo on hot summer days. Buy two packs in your baby's current size and one in the next size up. You won't regret having extras.
