Buying guide notes
Best budget pick for convertible cribs. If you want something with a more modern look, the Babyletto Hudson costs more but has that mid-century vibe. The IKEA Sniglar is even cheaper but doesn't convert. For the money, the Graco Solano is hard to beat if you want a crib that lasts through toddlerhood.
Overview
Our full take
Not every crib needs to cost $600. The Graco Solano does exactly what a crib should do, and does it well, for about a third of what designer brands charge. It converts four ways: crib, toddler bed, daybed, and full-size bed (with a separate metal frame). The three-position adjustable mattress base is useful as your baby grows and starts pulling up. Assembly took my partner and me about 45 minutes with the included Allen wrench. It's sturdy pine and composite wood. Does it look like a $500 Babyletto? No. But it's solid, safe, and looks perfectly fine in the nursery. We've had ours for 18 months now and there's zero wobble, no paint chipping, and our son has put it through the wringer. If you're on a budget or just don't want to spend a fortune on furniture a toddler is going to scribble on with crayon, this is the one to get.
