Buying Guide Notes
At under $25, just buy two. One for the nursery, one for wherever you do nighttime feeds or diaper changes. If you want a night light with more color options and smart features, the Hatch Rest+ covers that. But for a simple, portable, baby-safe glow, the VAVA is the best option we've found.
Full Review
The VAVA night light is one of those products that seems basic until you realize how often you use it. It's completely cordless and rechargeable via USB, so there are no cords near the crib. The soft silicone outer shell is warm to the touch and safe if baby grabs it. You tap the top to turn it on, tap again to switch between warm white and soft warm yellow, and press and hold to dim or brighten. That dimming feature is critical for nighttime feeds because you need just enough light to see what you're doing without waking baby (or yourself) up fully. We keep one in the nursery and ended up buying a second one for the hallway. A single charge lasts about 6-8 hours on medium brightness, which gets you through the night. It's also great as your toddler's first independent nightlight since there's nothing they can break or hurt themselves with. The design is cute without being annoyingly cutesy, basically a smooth egg shape that glows. Hundreds of nights in, ours still works perfectly.
