What We Like
- Fleece is warm without being sauna-level hot
- Non-slip sole dots are a must-have once baby starts standing and cruising
- Zipper has a chin guard so it won't scratch baby's neck
- Holds up to constant washing without excessive pilling
- Great price point in a 2-pack for stocking up
What Could Be Better
- Fleece isn't great for warm climates or overheated houses
- Can be a bit static-y fresh out of the dryer
- Limited size range, you'll need to switch brands eventually
Safety Notes
Meets CPSC sleepwear safety standards for snug fit. Flame-resistant material. Check non-slip dots regularly for wear. Not intended for use near open flames or heat sources.
Buying Guide Notes
These run true to size for Carter's, which means slightly generous. Don't size up unless your baby is consistently in the next size. For warmer climates, Carter's also makes cotton footed pajamas without the fleece. Hanna Andersson makes a premium alternative with organic cotton if you want to spend more.
Full Review
Once your baby hits about 6 months, you need some warmer sleepwear options. Carter's fleece footed pajamas are what we reach for every single winter. The fleece is thick enough to be warm but not so thick that your baby overheats. The non-slip dots on the feet are a huge deal once your kid starts pulling up and cruising around, because hardwood floors in socks are basically an ice rink for toddlers. The zipper goes from ankle to chin with a fabric tab at the top so it doesn't scratch baby's neck. We've washed ours a million times and the fleece still hasn't pilled badly. At around $10-12 per pair in a 2-pack, you can stock up without feeling guilty. We bought 4 packs and rotated through winter without a single cold-morning meltdown about scratchy pajamas.
