What We Like
- Blocks 95-99% of light, turning any room pitch black for naps
- Triple-weave fabric also helps insulate against heat and cold
- Huge range of colors and sizes to fit any nursery window
- Machine washable and holds up well after many washes
- Very affordable compared to custom blackout window treatments
What Could Be Better
- Light can leak around the edges if your curtain rod isn't wide enough
- The fabric wrinkles out of the package and needs steaming or hanging time
Safety Notes
Keep curtain cords out of baby's reach. Secure curtain rods with appropriate wall anchors to prevent pulling down. No small parts or choking hazards.
Buying Guide Notes
Measure your windows and buy panels at least 4-6 inches wider on each side to prevent light leaks around the edges. If you want total darkness, pair these with a blackout roller shade behind them. The SlumberShade portable blackout option is great for travel. For a nursery, these NICETOWN panels are the best bang for your buck.
Full Review
If your baby's nursery gets any amount of sunlight during nap time, blackout curtains aren't optional. They're survival gear. The NICETOWN panels use a triple-weave fabric that blocks out 95-99% of light, and you can genuinely feel the difference compared to regular curtains. We hung these in our south-facing nursery, and nap time went from a 20-minute battle to our daughter just falling asleep. The room goes from bright afternoon to basically midnight dark. They also help with temperature regulation, which is a bonus in summer when the nursery would otherwise turn into a sauna. Installation is standard rod pocket or you can use rings. They come in a ton of colors and sizes. We went with the grayish white to match our nursery walls. The fabric feels thick and well-made for the price. After a year of weekly washing (because toddlers), they still look great and block light just as well.
