What We Like
- Turns bath time from boring hygiene into an engaging learning activity
- Sticks to wet surfaces easily and peels off without residue
- Big enough to avoid choking hazard, small enough for toddler hands
- 36 pieces means plenty for spelling names and making patterns
- Incredibly cheap for the amount of entertainment and learning value
What Could Be Better
- Will grow mold if you don't dry them between baths (this is non-negotiable)
- Some letters fade in color over time with heavy use
- You'll be stepping on stray foam letters in the bathroom for years
Safety Notes
BPA-free, PVC-free, phthalate-free foam. Not a choking hazard at this size, but supervise play. Must be dried between uses to prevent mold. Replace if any pieces show signs of mold, cracking, or peeling.
Buying Guide Notes
Buy a mesh bath toy organizer bag at the same time. Hang the letters in the bag after each bath and squeeze out excess water. This prevents the mold issue entirely. Munchkin also makes foam animal sets if your kid isn't ready for letters. For older toddlers, magnetic letters on the fridge are the next step up.
Full Review
Bath time goes from a 5-minute scrub to a 20-minute activity once your toddler discovers these foam letters. The set comes with 26 letters and 10 numbers, all made from soft, non-toxic foam that sticks to wet tub walls, tiles, and glass. Your kid will spend ages sticking them up, peeling them off, and rearranging them. And while they think they're just playing, they're actually starting to recognize letters and numbers. Around 18 months, our son started pointing at letters and naming them from this set. By 2, he could spell his name on the tub wall. The colors are bright and each piece is big enough that it's not a choking hazard, but small enough for toddler hands to grip easily. The big thing to know: you need to let these dry between baths. If you leave them sitting in water or stuck to the wall permanently, they'll grow mold. We kept a mesh bath toy organizer bag (sold separately) and tossed them in there after each bath. Problem solved. They're cheap enough that you can replace the whole set once a year without feeling bad about it.
