For babies 6 months and older. Pediatricians recommend shade and protective clothing (not sunscreen) for babies under 6 months. Apply 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply every 2 hours or immediately after swimming or sweating. Avoid eyes and mouth. If irritation occurs, discontinue use.

Finding a baby sunscreen that's safe AND doesn't make your kid look like they're wearing white face paint is unreasonably difficult. Most mineral sunscreens (the kind pediatricians recommend with zinc oxide) leave a thick white cast that makes application feel pointless because your baby looks ridiculous. Thinkbaby is different. It still uses zinc oxide as the active ingredient, but the formula rubs in more smoothly than any other mineral sunscreen we've tried. There's still a slight white tint, but nothing like the ghost-face effect of most natural sunscreens. It was the first sunscreen to pass Whole Foods premium care requirements and it's consistently rated as one of the safest by EWG. The SPF 50+ means you're getting real protection, not just a number on the bottle. It's water-resistant for 80 minutes, which is about as good as it gets for baby sunscreen. The texture is creamy, not greasy, and it doesn't run into baby's eyes and cause stinging. We keep a tube in the diaper bag, one in the car, and one at home near the back door. You'll use it more than you think, even for quick trips to the park. Important note: pediatricians generally recommend avoiding sunscreen on babies under 6 months.
