What We Like

  • Dead simple to install, just push them into the outlet
  • 32-pack covers your entire house without needing to reorder
  • Translucent white blends in with standard wall plates
  • Tight fit that babies and toddlers can't pry out

What Could Be Better

  • Older toddlers (2.5+) can eventually figure out how to pull them out
  • Can be annoying to remove when you need the outlet, especially with short fingernails

Safety Notes

Cover all accessible outlets, not just the ones at floor level. Check periodically that covers are still snug and haven't loosened over time. These are a choking hazard if removed, so make sure they fit tightly. Not a substitute for GFCI outlets in kitchens and bathrooms.

Buying Guide Notes

This is a day-one baby proofing buy. Get them before your baby is mobile. The 32-pack is plenty for most homes. If you want something more permanent that you won't lose track of, sliding outlet plate covers (like the ones from Safety 1st) stay attached to the plate and slide closed automatically. But these simple plug covers are cheaper and work fine.

Full Review

Babies are drawn to electrical outlets like they have a sixth sense for danger. Something about those two little holes is irresistible to a crawling 8-month-old. These Jool Baby outlet covers are the most basic form of baby proofing, but they work. You plug them into unused outlets and they block access. That's it. No complicated installation, no tools needed. The 32-pack is enough to cover every exposed outlet in a typical 3-bedroom house. They're translucent white, so they blend in with standard outlet plates and you won't even notice them. The fit is snug enough that babies and toddlers can't pull them out, but adults can remove them with a fingernail when you need to use the outlet. We went around our entire house one evening and plugged these into every outlet below waist height. Took about 15 minutes. It's not the most exciting baby purchase you'll make, but it's one of the most important. Electrical injuries are rare but serious, and this is cheap insurance. Buy them before your baby starts crawling and just leave them in place until your kid is old enough to understand that outlets aren't toys.
