Our daughter got this set at 3 months and the textured balls were her first real grasping toys. By 6 months she was batting the balls around. The balls have different weights and textures so each one feels different. The soft blocks are lightweight enough for a baby to throw without breaking anything or hurting anyone. Not every piece will be a hit with your baby, but enough of them will be that you'll get months of play from this set.
