What We Like

  • Four play modes from newborn through sitting stage
  • Tummy time support pillow makes the position more tolerable for reluctant babies
  • Under $30 makes it the best budget play gym available
  • Folds compact for storage or transport to playdates

What Could Be Better

  • The mat is thinner than premium options, you'll want a blanket underneath
  • Hanging toys are basic compared to Lovevery or Skip Hop
  • The arch can wobble when baby pulls on toys aggressively

Safety Notes

Always place on a flat floor surface, never elevated. Supervise tummy time at all times, especially with the support pillow. Remove hanging toys if they become damaged. The mat is not a sleeping surface.

Buying Guide Notes

This is the best play gym under $30, hands down. If you want premium, the Lovevery gym costs 5x more with wooden toys and better aesthetics. The Fisher-Price Kick and Play Piano Gym is in the middle and adds the kick-piano feature. For pure budget value, the Infantino wins. Great for families who know baby stuff gets used for a few months and then donated.

Full Review

Not everyone needs a $150 Lovevery play gym, and the Infantino Flip proves it. This play mat does four things: flat mat with overhead arch for newborns, tummy time with a support pillow, seated play with a toy bar, and music and lights mode for engagement. The support pillow for tummy time is the standout feature. When your newborn hates tummy time (and most do), having a prop-up pillow makes the position more tolerable so they actually practice instead of screaming immediately. The hanging toys include a mirror, crinkle star, and textured links. Nothing fancy, but developmentally appropriate for the first year. The mat itself is thin, so we put a blanket underneath for extra cushion. And the whole thing folds up small enough to shove in a closet or take to a playdate. For under $30, you're getting 80% of the function of gym mats that cost 4-5x more. It won't be as beautiful as the Lovevery or as sturdy as the Skip Hop. But your baby doesn't care about that.
