Buying Guide Notes

Just buy them. At under $10, there's no reason to overthink this purchase. Every baby should have a set of stacking cups. The Munchkin Caterpillar cups are a good alternative with a similar concept. Green Toys makes a stacking cup set from recycled plastic if you prefer eco-friendly options. Add these to any baby gift bag as a guaranteed win.

Full Review

Stacking cups are the most underrated baby toy in existence. They cost almost nothing, take up no space, and babies play with them in about 15 different ways. These Baby Einstein cups nest inside each other for storage, stack into towers for knocking down (the best part), scoop water in the bath, act as sand molds at the beach, serve as pretend food bowls, and become building blocks for toddler creativity. Our daughter started with them at 6 months, just banging them together and putting them in her mouth. By 9 months she was nesting them. By 12 months she was stacking all 8 cups into a tower and cackling while knocking it down. She's 22 months now and uses them as pretend tea cups for her stuffed animals. Each cup has a number and a different color, so they quietly teach counting and color recognition. They have small drain holes in the bottom so they don't hold standing water in the bath. The caterpillar topper is a cute touch that gives the tower a "finished" look. At about $5-8, this might be the best dollar-per-hour-of-entertainment ratio of any baby product ever made.
