Safety notes
This is a supervised, awake-time product. Never let a baby sleep in a lounger, and never put one inside a cot, bassinet or adult bed. US safety regulators have repeatedly warned about infant deaths in padded loungers and pillow-like positioners used for sleep. Safe sleep is alone, on the back, on a firm flat surface with nothing else in it. Stop using the lounger once your baby can roll.
Buying guide notes
If what you want is somewhere safe for a newborn to nap near you, buy a bassinet with a firm flat mattress instead. This is not that, and no lounger is.
Overview
Our full take
Loungers are popular because a newborn who will not be put down will sometimes settle in one, and a parent needs both hands occasionally. Used for supervised awake time on the floor, that's a reasonable thing to own. What they are not, ever, is a sleep surface, and this is the product category where that distinction has cost babies their lives. US regulators have warned repeatedly about infant deaths in padded loungers and pillow-like positioners used for sleep, including inside cots and adult beds. If you buy one, buy it knowing it lives on the floor, in your eyeline, while your baby is awake. If you think you'll use it for naps, buy something else instead.
