What we like

  • App control means you adjust the pump without reaching inside your shirt
  • The DoubleFit flange helps some of the people standard sizing fails
  • Auto-stop at 30 minutes
  • Same hands-free freedom as the S12

What could be better

  • $30 more than the S12 for benefits you might not need
  • An app is another thing to charge, update and lose patience with
  • Still a wearable, so still lower output than a plugged-in pump

Key features

  • App control over mode and suction
  • DoubleFit flange
  • 30-minute auto stop

Who should buy it

Someone who has struggled with flange fit, or who wants their sessions logged.

Who should skip it

A parent who wants one button and no phone involved.

Safety notes

Flange fit decides whether a wearable pump works for you, and it varies by person, not by brand. Measure your nipple diameter before buying and check the insert sizes included. A pump that hurts or drains poorly is usually a sizing problem rather than a faulty unit. If output drops or pumping becomes painful, stop and speak to a lactation consultant.

Buying guide notes

Buy the M5 over the S12 Pro if standard flanges have hurt or underdrained for you before. If they haven't, save the money and get the S12.

Overview

Our full take

The M5 is what you buy when the S12 is almost right. Two things separate them. The app lets you change mode and suction from your phone rather than fumbling at your own chest, which sounds trivial until you've done it in a car park. And the DoubleFit flange is Momcozy's answer to the complaint that dogs every wearable: that the fit is wrong for a lot of people. There's a 30 minute auto-stop, which is a small kindness for anyone who has fallen asleep mid-session. It's $30 more than the S12. If you already know your standard flange size fits you, that money may not buy you much.
