Our Full Review
Tubby Todd has the kind of word-of-mouth reputation that brands dream about. Parents discover it, it works on their baby's skin issue, and they tell every parent they know. The All Over Ointment is their hero product, and honestly, the hype is justified. It's a thick, zinc-based ointment that you can use on pretty much any skin irritation your baby develops. Eczema patches behind the ears? This. Cradle cap that won't quit? This. Red, angry diaper rash? Also this. Dry winter skin on the cheeks? Yep. The ingredient list is clean: zinc oxide, coconut oil, beeswax, rosemary extract, and a few other plant-based ingredients. No fragrance, no dyes, no petroleum. Our pediatrician initially raised an eyebrow at a "trendy Instagram brand" but admitted she'd seen it work for multiple patients. We used it on our daughter's persistent cheek eczema after prescription creams weren't cutting it, and it cleared up within a week. Now I'm not saying it replaces prescription treatment for severe eczema. Talk to your doctor. But for everyday skin issues, this little jar is worth its weight in gold. And yes, it's pricey for 3.5 ounces. But a little goes a long way since you're applying a thin layer, not slathering it on. One jar lasted us about 2 months with regular use.
What We Like
- Multi-purpose ointment that genuinely works on eczema, cradle cap, rashes, and dry skin
- Clean ingredient list with no fragrance, petroleum, or synthetic chemicals
- A little goes a long way since you apply a thin layer
- Cult following among parents for a reason, the results speak for themselves
- Safe for newborns and can be used head to toe
What Could Be Better
- It's expensive at $26+ for 3.5 ounces, no getting around that
- The thick texture can feel greasy on hands until it absorbs
- Not a substitute for prescription treatment for severe skin conditions
Safety Notes
For external use only. Contains beeswax and coconut oil, so avoid if baby has known allergies to these ingredients. Patch test on a small area first. If skin condition worsens or doesn't improve after a week, consult your pediatrician.
Buying Guide Notes
Start with the 3.5 oz jar before committing to the larger size. If it works for your baby (and it probably will), the 7 oz jar is better value. For a budget alternative, plain CeraVe Healing Ointment does similar barrier protection at a fraction of the price. But the cult parents will tell you it's not the same. Aquaphor is another cheaper option for basic moisture barrier.
