Our Full Review

The OXO Tot Sprout sits in the sweet spot between the $20 IKEA Antilop and the $400 Stokke Tripp Trapp. You get a genuinely good-looking chair with real wood legs, proper height adjustments, and a seat depth that changes as your kid grows. The tray pops off one-handed (important when you're holding a squirmy, food-covered toddler) and goes right in the dishwasher. Three seat height positions and three footrest positions mean you can dial in the ergonomic setup that feeding therapists recommend. The cushion is wipeable (not fabric), so pureed carrots don't permanently stain it. We've used ours from 6 months through nearly 3 years, and it still looks good. The chair is heavy though, about 18 pounds, so it's not one you'll be moving around the kitchen daily. And it doesn't fold flat for storage. But if you want something that looks nice in your dining room and works well for years, it's a great middle-ground pick.

What We Like

  • Adjustable seat height and depth grow with your child through the toddler years
  • Removable tray goes in the dishwasher and pops off one-handed
  • Wipeable cushion doesn't stain like fabric alternatives
  • Clean modern design with real wood legs looks nice in your dining room
  • Footrest adjusts to support proper feeding posture at every stage

What Could Be Better

  • Heavy at 18 lbs, not easy to move around the kitchen
  • Doesn't fold flat, so it's a permanent piece of furniture
  • Expensive for a high chair, though cheaper than the Tripp Trapp

Safety Notes

Always use the 5-point harness until your child can sit reliably. Check that the tray is fully locked before each meal. Meets ASTM and JPMA high chair safety standards. Never leave child unattended in the chair.

Buying Guide Notes

If you want the best-looking adjustable high chair under $300, this is it. The Stokke Tripp Trapp costs more but converts to an adult chair. The IKEA Antilop is 10x cheaper if you just want something functional. The OXO Sprout is for parents who want real adjustability and care about kitchen aesthetics.
