Our Full Review
A playard earns its keep by being three things badly rather than one thing perfectly, and that's fine, because the alternative is owning three things. This one switches between bassinet height for a newborn, a floor-level playard for a crawler, and a folded travel mode for the boot of a car. The one-click fold matters more than it sounds: anyone who has fought a travel cot in a hotel room at 9pm with a tired baby will pay real money to avoid repeating it. At $239 it's not an impulse buy, but it replaces a travel cot and a playpen, so measure it against both.
What We Like
- Genuinely quick to fold and unfold, which is the whole point
- Bassinet mode means it's useful from birth
- Replaces both a travel cot and a playpen
What Could Be Better
- $239 is real money for something used occasionally
- Heavier than a bare-bones travel cot
- Playard mattresses are firm and thin by design, which surprises people
Safety Notes
Use only the mattress or pad supplied with the playard. Adding a second mattress, a folded blanket or a padded topper creates a suffocation risk and is a leading cause of playard deaths. The sleep surface must stay firm and flat with nothing else in it. Check the sides lock fully before every use, and stop using bassinet mode once your baby can push up on hands and knees.
Buying Guide Notes
Best value if you'll travel with it. If it will only ever sit in one room, a proper cot is better for sleep and a playpen is better for play.
