Our Full Review
A hooded towel is one of the few baby items that is exactly as useful as it looks. A wet newborn loses heat fast, and getting a hood over their head immediately makes the whole bath calmer. Muslin rather than terry means it dries quickly and softens with washing instead of going stiff, which is the failure mode of cheap towels. Sized generously enough to still wrap a toddler, so this outlasts most of what you buy for a newborn. At $21 it's one of the least contentious purchases here.
What We Like
- The hood matters, because heat goes out of a wet head fast
- Muslin softens with washing rather than stiffening
- Big enough to still work on a toddler
What Could Be Better
- Less plush than terry, which some people prefer for warmth
- You'll want two, since bath nights don't wait for the wash
Safety Notes
Never leave a baby unattended in or near water, not even for a moment and not even in very shallow water. Get everything you need within reach before you start. Bath water should be around 37C, and you should always test it yourself rather than trusting a thermometer alone.
Buying Guide Notes
Buy two. The second one is not a luxury on the night the first is in the machine.
