A picture book is the easiest way into this whole subject, because reading together is a routine you already have. The story follows Charlie, the same puppy as the weighted plush, which gives a child who owns the toy a reason to care. The mindfulness is carried by what happens in the story rather than by instructions, so nothing has to be explained. At $22.50 it's priced like a nice hardback. It's also the most age-flexible thing in this range: a 2-year-old gets the pictures and the rhythm, a 5-year-old gets the idea, and it works at bedtime for both.
