Charlie is a weighted soft toy, and the weight is the whole point. At 1.5kg he sits heavily enough in a lap to give the deep-pressure feeling that helps some children settle, which is why occupational therapists have used weighted plush for years. He can go in the microwave to warm up or the freezer to cool down, so the same toy works for a child who calms with warmth and one who prefers cold.
