Our Full Review
Sensory play doesn't need to be complicated or expensive. This 20-piece set from Infantino gives you a variety of textured balls, stackable blocks, and squeezable animal figures that babies can grab, chew, stack, roll, and squeeze. Our daughter got this set at 3 months and the textured balls were her first real grasping toys. By 6 months she was batting the balls around. By 10 months she was stacking the blocks and knocking them down (the best part, obviously). The different textures, bumpy, smooth, ridged, squishy, are great for sensory exploration. The balls have different weights and textures so each one feels different. The soft blocks are lightweight enough for a baby to throw without breaking anything or hurting anyone. The animal figures squeak, which babies love. Everything is BPA-free and easy to clean with soap and water. At about $15 for 20 pieces, the per-toy value is outstanding. Not every piece will be a hit with your baby, but enough of them will be that you'll get months of play from this set. We keep ours in a mesh bag by the play mat and it's the first thing we grab for floor time.
What We Like
- 20 pieces with varied textures, shapes, and sizes for sensory exploration
- Multiple types of play: grasping, stacking, rolling, squeezing, throwing
- BPA-free and easy to clean with soap and water
- Lightweight enough for very young babies to hold and manipulate
- Outstanding value at under $1 per piece
What Could Be Better
- Quality on individual pieces is decent but not premium
- Some of the squeaky animals can be hard for babies to squeeze until they're older
- You'll end up picking balls off the floor constantly (but that's just baby life)
Safety Notes
All pieces are BPA-free and meet CPSC safety standards. Inspect regularly for tears or wear, especially if baby is teething on them aggressively. The blocks and balls are designed to be larger than choking size, but always supervise play with young babies.
Buying Guide Notes
This is a great starter toy set for new babies. It covers multiple developmental skills without buying a bunch of separate toys. If you want a more premium sensory ball set, the Edushape Sensory Balls are excellent but cost more per ball. For stacking blocks specifically, the Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn blocks are a nice complement. This Infantino set is the best all-in-one value pack we've found.
