Our Full Review

If you're breastfeeding, you're losing milk every single feed from the side your baby isn't latched to. That letdown just soaks into a nursing pad and goes to waste. The Haakaa changes this by suctioning onto the opposite breast and passively collecting the letdown milk. No pumping action needed, no motor, no cords. You squeeze it to create suction, stick it on, and nurse your baby on the other side. By the end of the feed, you've got 1-3 ounces of bonus milk sitting in the Haakaa that you can store. Over a day, that adds up. We built a freezer stash of over 100 ounces in the first month just from Haakaa catches, without ever touching an electric pump. It's one piece of silicone. Clean it, dry it, done. It won't replace an electric pump if you need to pump at work, but for building a stash passively while nursing at home, nothing else compares. The main complaint is that babies kick it off. A lot. You'll need to guard it, especially once those legs start flailing around 3-4 months.

What We Like

  • Passively collects letdown milk you'd otherwise waste during feeds
  • No motor, no batteries, no cords, completely silent and portable
  • One piece of silicone that's incredibly easy to wash and sterilize
  • Can build a significant freezer stash without active pumping sessions
  • Affordable enough to buy two in case baby kicks one off the couch

What Could Be Better

  • Babies kick it off constantly once they start moving their legs
  • Not a replacement for an electric pump if you need to pump for work
  • Suction can be uncomfortable if you squeeze too hard creating the seal

Safety Notes

Made from food-grade silicone, BPA-free. Sterilize before first use by boiling. Store collected milk according to breast milk storage guidelines. Not a breast pump for medical purposes. Consult a lactation consultant if you have concerns about supply.

Buying Guide Notes

Get the 4oz or 5oz size. The smaller ones fill up too fast if you have a strong letdown. Buy a Haakaa stopper cap to prevent spills if baby kicks it loose. This pairs perfectly with any electric pump. Use the Haakaa during nursing sessions at home and the electric pump for work pumping. It's the single best breastfeeding accessory under $20.
