Our Full Review
This play gym earned its spot as the most recommended baby toy on every parenting forum for a reason. Newborns lie on their back and stare at the hanging toys. Around 3-4 months, they figure out that kicking the piano keys makes music happen, and you get to watch the lightbulb moment in real time. It's genuinely one of the coolest early developmental milestones to witness. The piano detaches and sits upright for older babies to play with while sitting. The play mat is machine washable, which matters because it will get spit-up on it within the first week. Five activity toys hang from the arch for batting practice. And the music has a long-play mode that runs for 15 minutes, which is 15 minutes of hands-free time for you. Fair warning: you will hear "do re mi fa sol la ti do" in your sleep. The songs will haunt you. But your baby will be entertained and developing hand-eye coordination and cause-and-effect understanding while you drink a lukewarm coffee. Worth it.

What Could Be Better

Safety Notes
Place on a flat surface on the floor, never on an elevated surface. Remove hanging toys once baby can pull to sitting. Battery compartment should be checked to ensure it's secure. Always supervise tummy time for young infants.
Buying Guide Notes
This is the best play gym under $50 for the developmental value. The Lovevery play gym is the premium alternative at 3x the price with more elegant design. The Infantino activity gym is a cheaper alternative. This Fisher-Price is the sweet spot of price and engagement. Get rechargeable batteries from day one.
