Our Full Review

Sometimes the simplest toys are the best. The Dimpl is just five silicone bubbles in different sizes and colors set into a plastic frame. Push them in on one side and they pop out the other. That's it. And babies are absolutely mesmerized by it. The popping motion is satisfying (think of those silicone pop-it fidget toys but designed for babies), the colors are engaging, and the sensory feedback of pushing and popping develops fine motor skills. Our son would sit with this thing for 20 minutes at a time, which at 7 months old is basically an eternity. It's small enough to toss in a diaper bag for restaurants, waiting rooms, and car trips. There are no batteries, no sounds, no screens. Just tactile play. It's also great for teething because the silicone edges are safe to chew on. The frame is sturdy ABS plastic that survives being thrown repeatedly (and it will be thrown). At around $12, it's one of the best toy values you'll find. Adults will catch themselves popping the bubbles too. Don't pretend you won't.

What We Like

  • Simple sensory play that genuinely holds baby's attention for long stretches
  • No batteries, no sounds, no screens, just pure tactile engagement
  • Small and light enough for the diaper bag, restaurants, and car trips
  • Safe to chew on, making it double as a teething toy
  • Surprisingly durable, survives constant throwing on hard floors

What Could Be Better

  • Dirt and crumbs get into the edges where the silicone meets the frame
  • Not much play variety since it does one thing (but it does it well)
  • Some babies figure it out quickly and lose interest after a few months

Safety Notes

BPA-free, phthalate-free, and latex-free materials. Meets CPSC toy safety standards. Inspect regularly for any tears in the silicone bubbles. Clean with warm soapy water. Not dishwasher safe.

Buying Guide Notes

This is one of those toys every baby should have. Great for stocking stuffers, baby shower gifts, or just because. Fat Brain Toys also makes the Dimpl Duo (with textured bubbles) and Dimpl Digits (with numbers) for older toddlers. Pair with other sensory toys like the Manhattan Toy Skwish for a solid fidget toy collection.
