| Price | $22-$28 | $5-$8 |
| What It Does | Suctions to the table so baby can self-feed without throwing the plate | Holds whole foods in a mesh pouch so baby can gnaw without choking risk |
| Best Foods For It | Purees, soft pieces, finger foods, anything you'd put on a plate | Frozen fruit, banana chunks, steamed veggies, teething relief foods |
| Mess Level | Moderate, food stays on the mat but baby's hands go everywhere | High, juice and fruit pulp drip through the mesh onto everything |
| Cleaning | Dishwasher safe, wipes clean easily | Mesh traps food and needs immediate rinsing or it gets gross |
| Teething Bonus | Not designed for teething, it's a plate | Frozen fruit in the mesh is one of the best teething soothers out there |
Our Verdict
Get both when you start solids around 6 months. The ezpz mat is for purees and soft finger foods at the high chair. The Munchkin feeder is for whole fruits and frozen food that baby can gnaw on safely. Together they cost about $30 and cover the entire early solids toolkit. The feeder doubles as teething relief with frozen fruit, which alone makes it worth the $6.
